Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is an antioxidant that helps to prevent damage, and it also allows for regular hormone balance and plays a role in iron absorption. Vitamin C is found in many fruits and vegetables, including spinach, broccoli, strawberries, red bell peppers and citrus fruits. If you like, you can take a supplement, though if you have these foods on a regular basis you may not require it.
There are many products on the market but you want to look for a product that contains no more than about 500 mg per dose. The upper limit for that vitamin is 2000 mg per day, so do not exceed that amount on a regular basis.
If you have more questions about whether or not you get enough vitamin C in your diet speak to a local dietitian or nutritionist and if you think a supplement is right for you visit your local health food store or pharmacy for more information.
